HOUSTON, (January 25, 2017): — Burton Construction’s One Grove Street has received LEED Gold certification. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the leading program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.
In the heart of Houston’s Upper Kirby District, Burton Construction’s One Grove Street is a 626,378 square foot, 17-story, Class A office tower. The project’s scope includes ten levels of integrated parking, ground floor retail space and 250,000 square feet of office space. The project is part of the Kirby Grove mixed-use environment that includes another one of Burton Construction’s projects, the redevelopment of Levy Park. One Grove Street’s LEED project team consisted of Rennell Associates, Kirksey Architecture, TCI, Midway and Muñoz + Albin Architecture & Planning.
One Grove Street achieved LEED certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
LEED is the foremost program for the design, construction and operation of green buildings. More than 82,800 commercial and institutional projects are currently participating in LEED, comprising more than 15.7 billion commercial square feet of construction space in all 50 states and more than 162 countries and territories.

Several of Burton Construction’s projects have received LEED accreditation. Det Norske Veritas, a 96,000 square foot, Class A office building, was Gold certified for its core, shell and tenant interiors. Oak Park Plaza, a 60,000 square foot office building in the Westchase District received Silver certification, and the 25,000 square foot Altus Baytown Diagnostic Center also received Gold certification for its core, shell and tenant interiors.
